State water company OSE, in conjunction with the TAHAL consulting firm, is developing projects for sewage treatment plants for the cities of Colonia, Mercedes and Artigas.
In all cases, a timeframe of 25 years is forecasted.
The estimated investment for the Artigas plant, which will have secondary treatment of extended aeration activated sludge, will be between USD 5 and 6 million.
The Colonia and Mercedes plants will likely be built with advanced pretreatment. Since they would be the first medium-sized plants of these characteristics, investment amounts are not easy to forecast but will likely be similar to those of the Artigas plant. The Mercedes plant may well likely entail higher figures.
