Uruguayan delegation representing the public and private sectors conducted several promotional activities in Delhi and Mumbai

During Easter week, a Uruguayan delegation representing the public and private sectors conducted several promotional activities in Delhi and Mumbai, aimed at strengthening Uruguay's image with India's private sector and boost the commercial and investment relationships between both countries.

The delegation of public officers was composed of, apart from the Uruguayan Ambassador in India, H.E. César Ferrer, by Fernando Schreiber, Advisor to the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), and by Adrián Zak, Head of the Investment Promotion Department at Uruguay XXI. Private sector representatives, such as logistics company Grupo RAS, were also present.

Intense activities, efficiently planed and scheduled by the Uruguayan Embassy in India with the support of the MIEM, Uruguay XXI and Grupo RAS, took place during the week.

The delegation participated in the India - Latin America Business Summit, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), where the members of the delegation had the opportunity to present investment opportunities in Uruguay to the Indian companies. This included Uruguay XXI's presentation on the business climate and the advantages of investing in Uruguay.

In addition to participating in the Summit, members of the delegation had meetings with several companies in Delhi and Mumbai. The delegation met with some of India's largest business groups, including the Tata Group, Reliance Industries and Essar. The reception by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), subsidiary of the Tata Group with presence in Uruguay, was remarkable. Executives from TCS informed other seven companies of the Tata Group about their activities in Uruguay and their positive experience there. Their presentation was complemented with a presentation made by Uruguay XXI. Finally, the delegation also met with other companies that are currently present in Uruguay and that have plans to make additional investments in the country, such as Geodesic and Zamin Resources (Aratirí project).

The mission fulfilled the objectives set at the outset, of presenting our country to a select group of industrial conglomerates and companies in India. This is the first step in the program of economic promotion in the Indian private sector, aimed at deepening our commercial and investment links with India. As a result of this mission, some companies have already confirmed their intention to visit Uruguay in the next few weeks.
