III EUROPEAN INVESTMENT FORUM IN URUGUAY

The Delegation of the European Union in Uruguay, the European Parliament in Uruguay and the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay invite you to participate in the III European Investment Forum in Uruguay.

The Delegation of the European Union in Uruguay, the European Parliament in Uruguay, and the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay invite you to participate in the III European Investment Forum in Uruguay.

The activity is part of the InsPYraME UE project and will take place on 18 and 19 November in an online format. Uruguay XXI joins the promotion of this initiative.  

Focused on the development of services and the transformation towards a green economy, the III European Investment Forum in Uruguay is an opportunity to attract investments to Uruguay, present investment opportunities in the country, and exchange initiatives, trends, and good practices that favor the development of services. 

The third edition of this event will bring together important European and Uruguayan companies, representatives of the Chambers of Commerce of Europe and Uruguay, and relevant actors of the Uruguayan government. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Azucena Arbeleche, the Minister of the Environment, Adrián Peña, and the Undersecretaries of the Transport and Public Works portfolios - Juan José Olaizola-, and of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining, Walter Verri, will participate. In addition, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, is the special guest at the opening ceremony, which is also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Bustillo, and the Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis.

The activity will be distributed in four panels with prominent references and invited experts:

1st PANEL: Importance of services in the 21st century - The constant growth of services in the economy will be addressed. 

2nd PANEL: Port and logistics services - Need for trade facilitation services.

3rd PANEL: Digitalization of services and trade - Priorities of technology and the new challenges of the digital economy. 

4th PANEL: Green Economy - Circular Economy, Water Sanitation, Waste Treatment, and Electric Mobility.

The European Union is the leading investor in Uruguay. In 2018 alone, 12 billion Euros were invested by the EU, covering 35% of the foreign direct investment in the country. Currently, there are more than 400 European companies installed in Uruguay.
