New Portal Makes It Easier for Uruguayan Companies to Access the Benefits of the EU-Mercosur Agreement
Developed by Uruguay XXI, the portal allows companies to look up tariffs, rules of origin, quotas, and export requirements for the European Union

Uruguayan companies can now access the EU-Mercosur Agreement Portal at acuerdomercosurunioneuropea.com.uy. Developed by Uruguay XXI—the country's investment, export, and country brand promotion agency—the portal brings together in one place the information companies need to take advantage of the opportunities created by the agreement.
By entering a tariff code or product name, users can look up the tariff treatment applicable to each product, including the current tariff rate and its tariff phase-out schedule, preferential tariff quotas, rules of origin, and the European Union's market access requirements. The information is presented in a clear, user-friendly format to support exporters and companies exploring opportunities in the European market.
In addition to consolidating technical information into a single reference point, the portal provides practical guidance to help companies plan their export strategies, adapt to new regulatory requirements, and identify new business opportunities.
The initiative is particularly relevant for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Today, MSMEs account for 61% of the Uruguayan companies exporting to the European Union, although they represent only 3% of the total value of exports to that market, highlighting the significant growth potential for this segment.
The European Union is currently Uruguay's third-largest export destination for goods. The gradual elimination of tariffs and the preferential market access established under the agreement will create new opportunities for Uruguayan products in one of the world's largest markets.
In addition to the portal, Uruguay XXI provides a dedicated contact channel for companies seeking guidance on the EU-Mercosur Agreement. Businesses interested in learning how the agreement applies to their products or the requirements for accessing the European market can submit inquiries to acuerdoue@uruguayxxi.gub.uy, where they will receive technical guidance and specialized assistance.
