Uruguay Generated Leads for Its Export Products at Expointer
The national pavilion received inquiries about meat, wine, and tourism and hosted Uruguay Day at Expointer

Interest in importing Uruguayan meats and wines, inquiries about tourism offerings, and efforts to establish contacts for joint activities with Brazilian institutions characterized Uruguay’s participation in the 49th edition of Expointer. The national pavilion, organized by Uruguay XXI, served as a meeting place for companies, officials, and visitors at one of the region’s leading agricultural events.
The fair took place from August 29 to September 6 at the Assis Brasil Exhibition Park in Esteio, Rio Grande do Sul. Uruguay’s presence combined the promotion of food products, agricultural machinery, and equipment with tourism offerings and opportunities for business partnerships.
The event provided an opportunity to explore avenues for cooperation aimed at bringing companies from both countries closer together and capitalizing on opportunities available on both sides of the border.
The booth also welcomed individuals and companies interested in importing Uruguayan wines and meats. These inquiries were complemented by activities designed to raise awareness of these products, including a trivia contest organized by the National Meat Institute (INAC) on traditional Uruguayan meats and other aspects of domestic production. Meanwhile, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism provided information and advice to those who stopped by to learn about the country’s offerings as a travel destination.
The event was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Uruguayan Embassy in Brazil, the Consulate General in Porto Alegre, the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Tourism, along with the sector-specific brands Uruguay Meats and Uruguay Wine, managed by INAC and INAVI.
The business delegation included Saudu, Algeris, Mary, Urban, Steelagro, and Agro en Punta, as well as the Uruguayan Chamber of Manufacturers of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment (CUFMA), business leaders from Rivera, and departmental representatives. The presence of manufacturers of agricultural machinery and equipment made it possible to showcase offerings tailored to the needs of the regional agricultural sector.
On September 3, Uruguay Day brought together at the booth the Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, Alfredo Fratti; the ambassador to Brazil, Rodolfo Nin Novoa; and the consul general in Porto Alegre, Marión Blanco Espino, along with Brazilian officials and business and institutional representatives. The event included tastings of Uruguayan meats, wines, cheeses, and dulce de leche.
Uruguay’s presence at Expointer is part of a trade relationship in which southern Brazil plays a significant role. In the first half of 2026, Uruguayan exports to Brazil totaled US$993 million. Of that total, US$ 179 million went to Rio Grande do Sul, which was the second-largest destination among Brazilian states, with purchases consisting mainly of grains and dairy products.
Geographic proximity and production ties make this market a key venue for building on the contacts established during the fair.
