Uruguay participated in May in Web Summit Vancouver 2026, one of the most significant international technology events, with a delegation comprising companies from the technology sector, institutional representatives, and key figures from the national innovation ecosystem.
The participation was organized by Uruguay XXI, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Canadian Embassy in Uruguay, and the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI). This was the second edition of Web Summit Vancouver and also Uruguay’s second participation in the event, building on the work previously carried out at four consecutive editions of the Collision Toronto conference.
During the three-day event, Uruguay set up a country booth to promote the capabilities of the national technology ecosystem, investment and service export opportunities, as well as Uruguay’s potential as an innovation and business hub in Latin America.
The business delegation consisted of six Uruguayan companies with technology solutions geared toward global markets: Brokerware, Datalogic, Sunshift, Seta Workshop, Ombú Studio, and Soluciones AI Audit. Brokerware, which specializes in SaaS solutions for financial institutions, also participated with its own booth in the Startup Beta category.

The participating companies reflected the diversity and sophistication of Uruguay’s technology ecosystem. From applied artificial intelligence, automation, and predictive analytics to software development, management platforms, UX/UI design, and fintech solutions, the delegation showcased capabilities geared toward international clients and projects with global reach.
Uruguay offers a reliable and competitive environment for technological development, with standout attributes such as institutional stability, transparency, world-class infrastructure, and an expanding innovation ecosystem. Additionally, the country is home to more than 500 technology companies exporting services, leads South America in per capita technology exports, and has a strong presence in the U.S. market.
In parallel with the main event, on Tuesday, May 13, Uruguay–Canada Tech Connect took place, a networking event aimed at strengthening ties between Uruguayan companies and potential strategic partners in Canada.
The event, organized by Uruguay XXI, the Uruguayan Consulate, and the Canadian Embassy in Montevideo, aimed to create a space for exchange on technology, innovation, and business opportunities between the two countries. The gathering brought together members of the Uruguayan delegation participating in Web Summit Vancouver, representatives from the public sector, and national technology companies from various sectors.
Uruguay’s agenda in Vancouver also included participation in side events related to the Canadian tech ecosystem, such as the “Tech Advantage Tour,” organized by Invest Vancouver and focused on Creative Tech, featuring visits to leading institutions and companies in the sector such as Sony Pictures Imageworks, the Center for Digital Media, and DigiBC; or participation in the Corporate Innovation Summit, as well as a reception organized by the City of Vancouver for international government representatives.
Uruguay’s presence at Web Summit Vancouver was part of the country’s international positioning strategy as a reliable technology partner, a platform for business and innovation, and a gateway for companies seeking to grow in Latin America within a stable, competitive environment with highly qualified talent.
