Jorge Drexler

A Uruguayan singer-songwriter, one of the most renowned and award-winning artists in the Spanish-speaking world. Throughout his career, he has won 13 Latin Grammys, an Oscar, and a Goya Award, among many other accolades.

Jorge Drexler is a Uruguayan singer-songwriter with a long professional career in music and the arts. Over the course of his more than 30-year career, he has recorded 14 studio albums and performed concerts around the world.

His work has been honored with an Oscar for “Al otro lado del río” (2005)—Best Original Song, making it the first non-English-language song to win this award—; 13 Latin Grammys (2014, 2018, 2021, and 2022); a Goya Award (2011); and a Biznaga de Plata, among other honors.

In 2017, she participated in the first edition of TED in Spanish, recording a talk titled “Poetry, Music, and Identity,” one of the most acclaimed talks on the platform. In 2018, she took part in the renowned Tiny Desk Concerts, organized by NPR Music’s radio program All Songs Considered, and in 2023, she appeared on the prominent American television program Austin City Limits.
