    Uruguay's first female rally driver and the first Uruguayan woman to compete in the prestigious Dakar Rally.

    Patricia Pita is a Uruguayan rally driver with an outstanding career in the world of racing. She has competed in more than 50 rallies and has had notable international appearances.

    The daughter of Jorge Pita—a Uruguayan driver, South American champion, and rally car mechanic—she made her racing debut at age 24 and soon after moved to Córdoba, Argentina, to train in a setting better suited to the demands of the sport.

    In 2017, she became the first Uruguayan female driver to race in a 4x4 all-wheel-drive car, and in 2018, she formed the first-ever all-female rally team in South American history alongside an Argentine driver.

    In 2023, she made her debut in the Dakar Rally—the ultimate challenge and one of the few sports where men and women compete in the same category—becoming the first Uruguayan woman to participate in the event. In 2024, she returned to the event as part of the first all-female-led team in Dakar history, alongside Spanish driver Laila Sanz.

    Pita also runs a social impact program through which she visits schools across the country to share her experience, encourage participation in sports, and promote an activity that—while often perceived as masculine—is attracting more and more women who are making their mark.
