Agro en Punta 2027 will feature a regional forum on agriculture and livestock
Uruguay XXI supported the launch, which focused on business and the international reach of the agricultural sector

Agro en Punta unveiled its fourth edition, which will take place from February 3 to 5, 2027, at the Punta del Este Convention Center and will feature the first Latin American Agriculture and Livestock Forum. The event will bring together companies, government officials, investors, and international organizations to address a question that will guide its agenda: Is the region prepared to take the lead on global food security?
The launch took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of Acting Minister Valeria Csukasi; Undersecretary of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries Matías Carámbula; and Executive Director of Uruguay XXI Mariana Ferreira. The panel also included representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), CAF—the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean—and the event’s organizing committee.
The event aims to expand the trade and investment connections it established in its previous editions. According to data presented by the organizers, the 2026 edition recorded more than 11,000 attendees, brought together 1,500 participating companies, and featured representatives from 32 countries. Its program included more than 50 conferences and three forums, with the participation of more than 140 national and international speakers.
For Csukasi, this type of event is part of the country’s international integration agenda. “One can internationalize companies by taking them out into the world, but one can also internationalize the country by bringing the world to Uruguay,” she stated. The acting minister emphasized that the event allows for the promotion of agricultural production linked to innovation and opens strategic debates on the responsibilities and opportunities of food-producing countries.
Ferreira, for her part, explained that Uruguay XXI has supported Agro en Punta since its first edition due to its alignment with the country’s goals of promoting exports, attracting investment, and enhancing its international standing. She noted that the event has become a platform connecting companies, research, knowledge, and markets within a sector that is strategic for the Uruguayan economy.
The executive director emphasized that the scope of the agribusiness export sector goes beyond the production of goods. “We’re talking about solutions, services, innovation, the investments Uruguay receives, and the potential we have,” she said. She also highlighted the event’s growing regional focus and the inclusion of partners and content that showcase the country’s capacity to contribute to food security.
The new forum will organize the discussion over three complementary sessions. The first will address the perspective of governments and multilateral organizations; the second will focus on technology, science, and innovation; and the third will be dedicated to production, sustainability, and markets. The initiative will seek to connect these debates with Latin America’s competitiveness challenges and the demands of the international market.
Carámbula identified three dimensions of Uruguay’s positioning that converge at Agro en Punta: the quality of its processes and products, its scientific and technological capabilities applied to production, and the establishment of public-private partnerships. “Uruguay is a country of innovation, science, and technology linked to production processes,” he stated. The undersecretary noted that sustainability cuts across these dimensions and highlighted the country’s potential to become a leader in food security.
With this proposal, Agro en Punta will seek to link the debate on food security with business, investment, and cooperation opportunities for the region. For Uruguay XXI, which has supported the initiative since its inception, the event is also an opportunity to introduce international companies and investors to the country’s offerings of goods, services, and knowledge.
