Signing of the agreement for the establishment of commercial antennas

On November 23, within the framework of the National System of Productive Transformation and Competitiveness, the Agreement for the establishment of commercial Antennas and Agents for the promotion of exports and investments between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute for the Promotion of Investment and Exports of Goods and Services and Country Image (Uruguay XXI) and the Secretariat of Productive Transformation and Competitiveness was signed .

The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rodolfo Nin Novoa and the Executive Director of the Institute for the Promotion of Investment and Exports of Goods and Services and Country Image (Uruguay XXI).

The purpose of the Agreement is to implement a Pilot Program that meets the following objectives:

- Consolidate functions of export promotion and promotion and attraction of strategic investments.

- Adjust the presence abroad, through the network of Embassies and Consulates, to the requirements of an investment attraction function of a strategic nature (proactive andselective).

- Maximize this presence abroad in terms of export promotion and generation of information for commercial intelligence.

From the diplomatic presence abroad, three figures will be established for the implementation of said Project, namely:

The Investment Promotion Agent, who is the one who establishes and manages contacts with the type of potential investors in their reference region that they are interested in attracting, as well as executives of investment funds potentially interested in investing in projects, and with institutions that can guide investment decisions of multinational companies. It also provides strategic information, contacts, country visibility, determination of interests, among others.

The Export Promotion Agent, who is the one who establishes and manages contacts with potential importers relevant to their region of reference, with business chambers, chambers of commerce, associations of importers and other actors of importance for the promotion of exports (potential strategic partners for Uruguayan exporters). It also provides specialized and tailored information to potential importers and representative associations, as well as preparing periodic reports on monitoring and evolution of activities.

La Antena Comercial, which manages business information within the framework of the National Platform of Commercial Intelligence through the following instruments: Registration Form for Request of Information, Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (RPF, acronym in Spanish) for Uruguayan companies and international counterparts, Technical  or Thematic Notes, System of Commercial Alerts, Analysis of Trends, Commercial Contacts and Distribution Channels.

It is expected to start from no less than 5 key locations, to gradually add other locations of interest, with materials specifically formulated for sectors and locations, as well as  to deepen training in various tools to the actors directly involved in the project. All these activities will have clear and quantifiable indicators.
