Uruguay once again made its presence felt at LogiPharma 2026, the largest international event dedicated to logistics and supply chain management in the pharmaceutical industry, which took place from April 14 to 16 in Vienna. With a national booth and a schedule of activities focused on attracting investment, Uruguay XXI led the national delegation, reaffirming the country’s position as a regional hub for the distribution of pharmaceutical products.
The Uruguayan delegation was composed of key players from the logistics and pharmaceutical ecosystems, who, together with the promotion agency, presented the country’s capabilities to global leaders in the sector.
In this context, the highlight was the masterclass “Unlocking a Strategic Distribution Gateway…,” led by Cristina Montero, Uruguay XXI’s investment attraction specialist for the Life Sciences sector, and featuring testimonials from Patricia Beiro of Adium Pharma and Alejandra Silveira of AstraZeneca, who shared their experience operating from Uruguay.
During the presentation, the region’s main challenges were addressed, such as regulatory fragmentation, inventory management across multiple markets, and the logistical complexity stemming from distances and demand volatility. In light of this scenario, the regional hub model was highlighted, as it allows for centralized inventory, improved operational visibility, and reduced distribution complexity.
In this context, Uruguay positions itself as an efficient and reliable platform, supported by specialized free trade zones, validated cold chain infrastructure, experienced logistics providers, and qualified talent for regional management. These conditions have enabled a growing number of multinational companies to use the country as a base for their logistics operations in Latin America, managing thousands of annual shipments to various markets across the region.
The presence at the event of companies and operators from the ecosystem—including Megalabs, Zonamerica, Parque de las Ciencias, Costa Oriental Logística, and DHL—demonstrated the consolidation of an integrated value chain.
With this new participation in LogiPharma, Uruguay XXI continues to strengthen its international promotion strategy, positioning the country as the leading pharmaceutical hub in Latin America and as a strategic partner for optimizing supply chains in the region.
