On Wednesday, October 11, the Uruguayan yacht Yacht Club Punta del Este (YCPE) arrived first in the Clipper Round the World Race, which had the port of Punta del Este as its final goal. At around 8:00 p.m., the boat skippered by Fernando Antía was greeted with emotion for its historic victory.

The race, which as a challenge proposes to sail around the world in sailing yachts specially designed for the competition, had the participation of 11 boats that, during more than 230 days, traveled 65,000 kilometers through six continents.

With more than 10 hours ahead, the YCPE yacht completed the race’s last leg. It was received by the Mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía, and the Commodore of the Yacht Club, Juan Etcheverrito Zerboni, who presented them, as usual, with the Uruguayan flag and the YCPE flag.
