The best grill book of the year is Uruguayan

Manual de Parrilla, published by Aguaclara publishing house, received first prize in the Gourmand Cookbook Award 2023.

The Uruguayan book Manual de Parrilla won first place at Sweden’s Gourmand Cookbook 2023 awards. With this recognition, the publication by Uruguayan Sebastián Manito, with photography by Diego Velazco and by Aguaclara publishing house, was crowned the best in the world dedicated to grilling. The book also won third place in the Bilingual Cookbook category.

The book gathers Uruguayan customs and rituals related to barbecue, as well as cooking techniques and recipes. It competed with other publications from Argentina, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico, South Africa, and Sweden against publications such as that of the famous chef Francis Mallman.

This was the first time that a national book on grill and barbecue competed in these awards, a unique instance of recognition among the best cookbooks and wines worldwide.

Thanks to the support of the National Meat Institute (INAC), the investment, export, and country image promotion agency Uruguay XXI and the Santaclara meat company, Manito, Velazco, and Carlos Penadés - for the Aguaclara publishing house - attended the awards ceremony where they received the award from Edouard Cointreau, creator of the prestigious contest.


Top
