Punta del Este hosts the World Tourism Organization congress

This first international tourism congress is held as part of the 67th meeting of the UNWTO Regional Commission for the Americas and the seminar on the international code for the protection of tourists.

On May 18 and 19, Punta del Este will host the first international congress on tourism for members of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The purpose of this event is to carry out, together with authorities, technicians, and specialists of the sector, an analysis of the challenges presented by the activity in its post-pandemic reactivation stage.

The health crisis, its positive aspects, vulnerabilities, and how to combat them, as well as the rights of tourists and service providers, emergencies and assistance, new technologies, and the need for integrated legislation and a general coordinated framework for tourism, will be topics of discussion and general attention.

The Minister of Tourism Tabaré Viera, the Undersecretary Remo Monzeglio and the Mayor of Maldonado Enrique Antía will participate, among other important players in the field.
