Uruguayan food exporting companies, with the support of Uruguay XXI, successfully participated in the 2024 edition of Gulfood in Dubai, one of the most important events worldwide for the food sector.

Participation in this strategic fair is part of Uruguay XXI’s ongoing effort to strengthen the country’s export development, especially in the food sector. With a little more than 3.4 million inhabitants, Uruguay feeds almost 30 million people in the world and has the potential to reach 50 million. Its traceability and geo-referencing guarantee safe food, and its rigorous sanitary protocol ensures its safety. This food excellence has great strengths for international markets, which are increasingly dynamic and eager to acquire quality.

According to statements made by some Uruguayan businessmen, this year, the Uruguayan presence at Gulfood was the most successful of the last editions, with companies from the rice and meat sectors leading the delegation.

Victor Patrón, from the rice company FROCOM, shared his enthusiasm for the continued growth and success at the fair. He highlighted the importance of this event as a “must-attend event” for exporting companies, thanks to the opportunity to reconnect with existing clients and explore new contacts worldwide.

For his part, Juan Lema of Agromeals highlighted the high attendance and international participation in the fair, emphasizing Uruguay’s progressive recognition as a supplier of high-quality meat in the world.

The presence at Gulfood is just one aspect of Uruguay XXI’s strategic plan to promote the country’s food exports. With more than USD 4,000,000 in sales closed in previous editions, the fair proved to be a vital meeting point for Uruguayan companies, allowing them to diversify buyers and markets. Last year’s exports included dairy products, rice, and cocoa to markets such as Saudi Arabia, Estonia, Turkey, Algeria, Cameroon, and Holland, among others.

In addition, the commitment to quality and food safety, together with the active promotion in other key markets, reflects Uruguay’s potential and ambition to expand its global presence, taking advantage of its exceptional supply of dairy, meat, and rice products, among others.
