For over 40 years, we have been bringing high-quality dairy products to Uruguayan tables. We strive to delight the taste buds of those who choose us. With our eyes set on the future, we extend the flavor and artisanal tradition of Colonia’s dairy region to the world, making our products true ambassadors of Uruguayan taste.
Granja Pocha was founded on October 1, 1980, in the heart of the Río de la Plata dairy region, in Juan Lacaze, Colonia, Uruguay. From the very beginning, we have focused on what we believe is essential: quality, ongoing training, and investment in state-of-the-art technology. These three pillars have been the driving force behind every milestone we’ve achieved.
We started out making our now award-winning dulce de leche, a staple on Uruguayan tables. Over the years, we’ve expanded our range, and today we offer a diverse selection of products, including cheeses, milk, cream, yogurts, and desserts.
Since 2013, all our products have proudly carried the Colonial brand, a name that reflects both our roots and the authenticity of the flavors we deliver. Innovation has been key to our growth, enabling us to launch Uruguay’s first vegan yogurt and to pioneer the country’s first line of lactose-free yogurts and cheeses.
Our commitment to excellence has allowed us to meet the highest national and international standards, opening the door to new markets and sharing the taste of Uruguay with the world.
Our main operations center is located in Uruguay’s premier dairy region, in the south of Colonia, an area with ideal natural conditions for dairy production. The original plant has been expanded three times—in 2013, 2017, and most recently in 2025. Thanks to this latest expansion, we now have a daily processing capacity of 360,000 liters.
In 2025, Granja Pocha became part of the Lactalis family. This acquisition brought the Colonial and Granja Pocha brands into the Lactalis portfolio in Uruguay, joining Président, Parmalat, and Galbani. With this move, Lactalis has further strengthened its presence in the national dairy market, increasing milk processing capacity and boosting exports.
