Daniel Scharf

Daniel Scharf

Illustrator, author and visual artist with a distinctive aesthetic-conceptual style rooted in printmaking. He has exhibited and received recognitions in America, Asia and Europe.

Dani Scharf is an illustrator, author and visual artist. He graduated in Graphic Design from Universidad ORT Uruguay and worked for over 12 years in advertising, becoming Art Director at national and international agencies, where he strengthened his conceptual approach. He believes illustration transcends formats: his work appears in books, posters, records, murals and exhibitions. He has exhibited in Argentina, China, Chile, Spain, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, the U.S. and Uruguay. Passionate about analog art, printmaking is central to his visual identity. Lürzer’s Archive recognized him three times among the 200 best illustrators worldwide. He was selected for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (2018), the Golden Pinwheel at the Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (2019), and received third prize at the Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award (2020). In 2023 he won the Irudika residency (Basque Country, France and Mexico), developing Good Fake News, later featured in Uruguay’s 61st National Visual Arts Award.
