LA VELA PUERCA
ROCK BAND
MONTEVIDEO
URUGUAY

La Vela Puerca is one of the most popular and influential rock bands in South America. Its formation dates back to 1995 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Its accelerated, combative and colorful profile stood out among the generation of artists who emerged during the democratic restoration, after a dictatorship of more than 10 years. Their flags replaced a certain oppressive "no future" air with a critical but positive attitude.

Its members are Sebastián Teysera Enano (vocals), Sebastián Cebreiro Cebolla (vocals), Nicolás Lieutier (bass), Carlos Quijano (sax), Alejandro Piccone (trumpet), Diego Méndez (keyboards), Santiago Butler (guitar), Rafael Di Bello (guitar) and José Canedo (drums). With a 30 years career, 8 studio albums and 3 DVDs, the band has tirelessly toured Latin America, the USA and Europe, establishing itself as one of the most solid rock proposals in the Rio de La Plata. The Luna Park, Obras, Atlanta and Ferrocarril Oeste stadiums in Buenos Aires, along with the Summer Theater and the Municipal Velodrome of Montevideo are some of the venues where they sold out seats. In addition, they have worked with important producers and sound engineers such as Gustavo Santaolalla, Juan Campodónico, Claudio Taddei, Ricardo Troilo and Aníbal Kerpel.

On their debut album La Vela Puerca they presented themselves as "a band that rests in reggae, dreams of insubordination and plugs into ska". Today the group shines in its maturity with that same mutant and ferocious spirit but at the same time introspective and bohemian.
