TORO Arquitectos is an architecture and interior design firm based in Uruguay, specializing in high-end residential, commercial, and hospitality projects.

We seek a perfect symbiosis between the client, their target audience, and the final result. We design spaces that evoke emotion through contemporary, authentic architecture where functionality, design, and innovation coexist in balance. We specialize in bespoke design, valuing detail and finely crafted execution.

Founded in 2018, TORO Arquitectos approaches design as a tool to enrich the human experience. As multidisciplinary architects and designers, we conceive each project as a path toward well-being, enhancing and optimizing every space.

Each project—whether architecture or interior design—expresses a purposeful minimalism: a commitment to re-sensitizing the built environment through design. Our goal is to uncover the essence of every proposal, regardless of scale or location, creating architecture that connects with the human desire for belonging, autonomy, and identity.

FEATURED PROJECT

Feltrinelli / Reforma del edificio Pablo Ferrando - Montevideo, Uruguay

We were responsible for the preliminary design and construction management of the renovation of the Pablo Ferrando Building for Feltrinelli’s first bookstore in Latin America. The intervention was conceived as a value-enhancement strategy aimed at restoring the original beauty of the 1917 building, adapting it to a new international bookstore and gastronomic space. The façade, stained-glass window, skylight, and main staircase were restored, returning them to prominence. Inside, circulation and furniture layouts were reorganized along the original axis, expanding display areas and improving the flow of movement. The floors were redesigned with accessibility as a priority, incorporating travertine marble. The sober material palette and lighting scheme complement the existing architecture. On the upper floor, the restaurant is oriented toward Teatro Solís, integrating heritage, program, and city.

FEATURED PROJECT

Estudio Café - Montevideo, Uruguay

In 2024, we completed Estudio-Pelo, the hair salon of a renowned Uruguayan hair artist located in Pocitos, Montevideo. The project involved the full transformation of a 1946 heritage house, respecting its original identity while enhancing its most distinctive architectural features. Following the experience of Estudio Café, we embraced the challenge of translating that same spirit into a new program. The intervention was conceived from a minimalist approach, where austerity, material simplicity, and the careful selection of design pieces allow each element to stand out with clarity and presence. The ground floor houses the salon, organized into color, washing, cutting, and styling areas, along with a reception and waiting space. Artworks by visual artist Manuela Vilanova, located in the front cutting and styling room and in the waiting area, accompany the spatial sequence and bring identity to the project. The upper floor accommodates offices and staff service areas, completing a functional layout that balances experience, work, and permanence.
