Uruguay was the first country in the world to comprehensively regulate cannabis, including its use for medicinal purposes. This early regulation led to the emergence of an industrial ecosystem focused on the development of active ingredients, pharmaceutical formulations, and finished products with therapeutic applications.
More than 100 companies operate in the sector, many of them with vertical models that integrate cultivation, research, industrialization, and distribution.
