Gonzalo Varela showcased Uruguayan music for video games at Gamescom Latam 2025

Composer, sound designer, and teacher, Uruguayan Gonzalo Varela has found in video game audio a space where his passions converge: collaborative work, interactive storytelling, and the ability to move people through music.

After studying composition and guitar at the University of the Republic, a Fulbright-ANII scholarship led him to specialize at Columbia College Chicago, a world leader in screen composition. In 2025, he was one of the protagonists of the national delegation at Gamescom Latam, an event coordinated by Uruguay XXI to promote the integration of Uruguayan companies and professionals into the global video game industry. There, he gave a specialized talk on composition for action and combat scenes, sharing his experience with developers, composers, and producers from different countries.
