“Treinta y Tres has the raw materials, the skilled labor, and the talent to reach the world.”
Mayor Mario Silvera highlighted the arrival of Uruguay XXI's Más Comercio program as a key tool for connecting the department's productive potential with international markets

The Treinta y Tres Democratic Cultural Center brought together businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and institutional representatives for a new edition of Más Comercio, the Uruguay XXI program that strengthens the export capabilities of the country's interior.
For Mayor Mario Silvera, the event was much more than a training day. “Welcoming Uruguay XXI and the Más Comercio program was very important because it is a great tool for placing Treinta y Tres products on the world stage. We often have the raw materials and the hands to produce them, but we lack the international market that allows businesses to grow and generate development,” he said.
Silvera also highlighted Uruguay XXI's ongoing collaboration with the department in attracting investment, recalling previous experiences such as the arrival of industrial projects. “We have always been able to count on Uruguay XXI. The fact that they are here today with this program is essential because it helps us to promote local enterprises and bring them to the world,” he stressed.
A synergy that drives local development
The department head also highlighted the importance of institutional coordination and joint work between the public and private sectors.
“That word, synergy, is key. It is the industrialists, entrepreneurs, and institutions, all pushing for more products to be made in the department and with a window to the world. That is the big link that Treinta y Tres was missing,” he said.
Silvera believes that the department has high export potential, especially in areas such as wool and handicrafts, where knowledge, creativity, and added value converge.
“We have the capacity, talent, and products that can set us apart. Sometimes what is lacking is knowledge and connection with globalization. That is why having Uruguay XXI with its experience and support today is a huge advantage,” he said optimistically.
Training and mentoring for growth
During the activity, participants attended a workshop on the first steps to exporting and had the opportunity to apply for personalized mentoring aimed at strengthening the management, commercial planning, and international integration of local companies.
This edition was supported by the Municipality of Treinta y Tres, the Treinta y Tres Chamber of Commerce, the ANDE SME Centers, the Uruguayan Postal Service, Banco República, LATU, MYPE Exporta, INEFOP, and MIEM-Dinapyme.
Since its launch in 2022, Más Comercio has traveled to every department in the country, establishing itself as a pillar for promoting exports and identifying ventures with the potential to be included in Uruguay XXI's Investment Project Portfolio, which connects Uruguayan companies with international investors.
Upcoming editions: Montevideo and closing in Lavalleja
During 2025, Más Comercio also visited the departments of Maldonado, Canelones, San José, Artigas, Río Negro, and Durazno, providing concrete tools to strengthen the export capabilities of companies and entrepreneurs throughout the country.
After passing through Treinta y Tres, the program will make its next stop in Montevideo on December 4, in a format that, in addition to presentations, will include consulting spaces by topic and institution. Although the event will be held in the capital, it aims to attract and support companies and entrepreneurs from across the country.
Then, Más Comercio will conclude in the department of Lavalleja on December 12, reaffirming its scope and Uruguay XXI's commitment to bringing internationalization tools to every corner of the country.
