“Uruguay has become a business hub for Latin America”
Institutional stability, skilled talent, and advanced technological infrastructure position Uruguay as a strategic destination for establishing global service centers serving the Americas

“The decision to set up in the WTC Montevideo Free Zone began with choosing Uruguay as the location for our office. Uruguay seemed like a good option because of the stability and predictability the country offers to investors,” said Juan Pomés, partner at Dechamps International Law, in an interview published by WTC Montevideo on its YouTube channel.
Uruguay is consolidating its position as a regional hub for Global Service Centers, from which multinational, multilatina companies, and startups coordinate operations across Latin America. These platforms enable the centralization of functions such as regional headquarters, shared service centers, trading, distribution, and specialized corporate services.
The country’s value proposition is based on political and economic stability, legal certainty, and a predictable business environment for foreign investment. Uruguay maintains an investment-grade rating and clear rules for doing business, including equal treatment for local and foreign investors and the free movement of capital.
Its strategic location further strengthens this positioning, facilitating access to the region’s main markets. From Uruguay, companies can serve Brazil and Spanish-speaking countries, while also reaching a market of more than 400 million consumers through regional trade agreements.
This context was key to Dechamps International Law’s decision to establish an office in Montevideo, complementing its operations in London and Buenos Aires. The firm specializes in dispute resolution and international arbitration and has a team of lawyers across its offices.
The sector’s growth is also supported by a strong technological ecosystem and the availability of highly qualified talent. Uruguay offers professionals trained at top-tier universities, with strong language skills and the ability to operate in international environments.
“The availability of talent is very important. There are excellent universities and law schools in Montevideo, and Uruguay has become a business hub for the Latin American region,” Pomés added.
Currently, more than 100 global service centers operate in Uruguay, employing thousands of specialized professionals. This reflects the sustained growth of an industry that continues to expand and move toward more sophisticated, higher value-added services.
