Uruguay Value Proposition debuts in Peru with first edition in Lima
Uruguay XXI presented the country’s opportunities as a regional business hub to a Peruvian business audience

Uruguay XXI held its “Uruguay Value Proposition” event in Peru for the first time, an initiative designed to showcase the country’s competitive advantages to new markets in the region and strengthen ties between business ecosystems. The event, which Uruguay XXI has already hosted in Brazil, Argentina and Chile, was organized in coordination with the Embassy of Uruguay in Peru and brought together Peruvian business leaders, diplomatic authorities and a delegation of Uruguayan companies that traveled to Lima for the occasion.
The opening remarks were delivered by the Uruguayan ambassador to Peru, Silvana Montes de Oca, who highlighted the strategic nature of this first edition. “It is an honor to share this Uruguay Value Proposition event in Peru for the first time. For us, it is a joint effort between the embassy and Uruguay XXI, and we are sure it will be the first of many,” she said. She stressed that the main objective is to bring the business ecosystems of both countries closer together and build the first bridges for new opportunities. “We want to understand what Uruguay can offer, what Peru can offer, and work together. We are at your complete disposal,” she remarked.

The executive director of Uruguay XXI, Mariana Ferreira, expressed the team’s enthusiasm at seeing this long-planned initiative with the embassy come to fruition. “Peru is a country that offers many opportunities; so does Uruguay, and we want to foster that link,” she said.
Ferreira also shared figures that illustrate the potential of the bilateral relationship. Uruguayan exports of goods to Peru are around USD 120 million per year, representing approximately 1% of Uruguay’s total exports, which makes Peru the country’s 11th-largest export destination. “We are sister countries and we have daily direct flights between Montevideo and Lima; we must take advantage of this. However, trade flows can still be strengthened, and we want them to grow closer,” she noted.
She highlighted the presence of Uruguayan companies exporting goods and services, as well as Peruvian companies already established in Uruguay, particularly in sectors such as health, professional training and technology. She also recalled that over the last 20 years the Peruvian economy has grown at an average rate of 4% per year, and underlined Uruguay’s goal of becoming a visible destination for Peruvian investment. “Today, Peru invests in Chile, Colombia and Mexico; we want to be on that regional map as well,” she said, emphasizing the importance of continuing to build relationships and support interested companies.
Uruguay as a platform
The event continued with the presentation “Uruguay, a hub for business and innovation” by Uruguay XXI’s investment manager, Alejandro Ferrari, who went into detail on the incentives, macroeconomic stability, talent and regulatory conditions that make the country an attractive location for companies and regional operations.
Ferrari outlined the main advantages of Uruguay’s legal framework, the tools for promoting investment, the country’s performance in international rankings and the growing community of foreign companies that operate from Uruguay for Latin America and the world.
Following the country presentation, the focus shifted to the Uruguayan companies in attendance, which shared how they operate from Uruguay to serve the wider region. Moderated by Fabiana Valiño, an investment promotion specialist at Uruguay XXI, representatives from Costa Oriental, Inside Campus and Zonamerica described their business models and shared success stories with impact in different Latin American markets.
The day ended with a networking session that brought together Peruvian and Uruguayan businesspeople, as well as representatives from Uruguay XXI and the embassy. In this space, participants delved deeper into the free-trade-zone regime, investment incentives, talent and sector-specific opportunities, and explored potential synergies. Both Uruguay XXI and the Embassy of Uruguay in Peru reiterated their commitment to supporting companies interested in advancing joint projects and seizing, on both sides, the opportunities offered by this new bridge between Uruguay and Peru.
