The technology products subsector in Uruguay is part of the broader technology and innovation ecosystem.
Although most of the sector is focused on software development services, in recent years there has been a strengthening in the development of technology products. In response to changes in demand and technology trends, there has been a strategic shift toward the productization of technology offerings and a new adjustment to market conditions.
The focus on products involves a large component of innovation and investment in R&D, usually carried out by startups or spinoffs from service companies, which carry out product development and intellectual property.
Most of these companies start by selling to the rest of Latin America before targeting other competitive markets such as North America or Europe.
