Costa Oriental has opened its fifth logistics facility in Zonamerica, bringing the total area dedicated to its regional distribution center operations to 50,000 square meters. The new facility, Costa Park V, adds an additional 10,000 square meters and increases the company’s operational capacity by 25%.

This expansion—part of a strategic reinvestment in Uruguay—positions the complex as the largest logistics center within the country’s free trade zones and further strengthens its role as a regional hub for international trade.

The inauguration brought together the President of the Republic, Yamandú Orsi, along with national authorities, private sector representatives, and officials from Uruguay XXI, including Executive Director Mariana Ferreira, Investment Manager Alejandro Ferrari, and Investment Specialists in the Global Services and Life Sciences areas, Fabiana Valiño and Cristina Montero, respectively. During the event, the impact of such projects on productive development and job creation was highlighted. The company currently employs more than 200 people, including both permanent and seasonal staff.

President Orsi emphasized the importance of investing in a complex global environment. “It is a risk and a challenge amid uncertainty, but above all, it is built on a strong foundation of trust,” he said, noting that initiatives like this help confirm that “we are on the right path” while creating new job opportunities.

He also stressed that the company’s commitment to the country transcends political cycles and reflects a sustained effort grounded in institutional stability and trust. “We welcome this type of initiative and the generation of employment,” he added.

From the company’s perspective, its president, Daniel Carriquiry, described the new facility as another milestone in an ongoing growth strategy. He highlighted Uruguay’s competitive advantages as a logistics hub, stating: “We do not compete on size, but on stability, legal certainty, human talent, and professionalism.”

Carriquiry also emphasized the strategic value of the hub, which enables the company to serve multiple regional markets—including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Bolivia—while optimizing logistics costs and delivery times. According to the company, this model reduces tied-up capital, enhances flexibility in responding to demand, and allows for the efficient redirection of goods without unnecessary costs.

Beyond warehousing, Costa Oriental focuses on generating added value throughout the logistics chain. This includes regulatory adaptations, labeling, specialized packaging, technical adjustments, and cross-border e-commerce operations. “We transform infrastructure into operational intelligence—and that is competitiveness,” Carriquiry concluded.

The expansion takes place within a dynamic regional context, marked by growing interest from international companies—particularly from Brazil—in operating from Uruguay’s free trade zones, reinforcing the country’s position as a strategic logistics hub.

With more than 40 years of experience in free trade zones, Costa Oriental continues to expand its footprint in Uruguay through investments that combine infrastructure, innovation, and advanced logistics services, consolidating its regional presence and contributing to the development of the country’s export ecosystem.
