Uruguay XXI and Cubo Itaú have signed a collaboration agreement that builds on several years of joint work to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and promote the internationalization of Uruguayan companies, while also supporting the attraction of foreign investment to the country, particularly from Brazil.

The partnership is part of Uruguay XXI’s international promotion strategy and its Brazil Plan, a roadmap designed to deepen the country’s presence in its key regional partner and strengthen ties with leading players in the technology and business ecosystem.

In this context, Cubo Itaú — one of the most prominent innovation hubs in Latin America — has become a strategic partner in connecting startups, corporations, and investors from both countries.

Founded in Brazil in 2015, Cubo brings together hundreds of startups and large companies within its open innovation network. In 2024, it began its regional expansion with the opening of its first location outside Brazil in Montevideo, further positioning Uruguay as a platform for connecting innovation ecosystems across Latin America.

The signing of the agreement formalizes a relationship that has developed over the past several years through initiatives focused on international promotion, investment attraction, and the strengthening of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

One of the most visible areas of this collaboration has been Uruguay’s participation in major international technology and innovation events. In recent years, Uruguay XXI and Cubo Itaú have worked together at events such as South Summit Brazil and Web Summit Rio, two of the region’s most important gatherings for the technology ecosystem.

These initiatives are complemented by other public–private collaboration efforts developed alongside the Brazilian hub. Among them are the Uruguay Networking Sessions, held in Punta del Este as part of Punta Tech Meetup, which brought together more than a hundred leaders from the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem, and the Sprint UY program, designed to give international startups a firsthand look at Uruguay’s innovation environment and investment opportunities.

The collaboration also includes meetings with international delegations and sector-focused events held at Cubo Itaú, where Uruguay XXI regularly participates to promote the country as a regional platform for business, innovation, and technological development.

Through this agreement, both institutions aim to deepen their joint agenda and advance new initiatives focused on attracting foreign companies, further strengthening the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, and supporting the international expansion of Uruguayan startups.
