Uruguay Returns to the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026
Uruguay will be participating in the B Bologna Children’s Book FairB , the world’s leading publishing industry event dedicated to children and young people, which will take place from B April 13–16, 2026B in B BolognaB , B ItalyB .
The national delegation, coordinated by Uruguay XXI and the National Directorate of Culture, marks the country’s return to this strategic event following its most recent participations in 2019 and 2022.
The fair brings together more than 26,000 professionals from the children’s and young adult publishing sector annually and serves as a key venue for rights sales, identifying trends, and the international promotion of content and illustrators.
Within this framework, Uruguay will have a country stand aimed at promoting Uruguayan children’s and young adult illustration and literature and the IDA Translation Program. The space will also showcase a selection of books from national publishers and serve as a platform for visibility and networking with industry players worldwide. Additionally, the delegation will include the winner of the first prize in the Children’s and Young Adult Fiction category of the 10th Illustration Award, Nino Fernández.
Companies (publishers or illustration firms) interested in joining the delegation, exhibiting books published in the last five years, or displaying illustrations as part of the booth design must register in Uruguay XXI’s Catalog for International Buyers and upload the works they wish to submit there.
This catalog is a strategic tool for international promotion that connects Uruguayan export companies with foreign counterparts. Being part of it increases visibility among international buyers, benefiting from its distribution abroad.
This is a multisectoral catalog, so some fields on the form are generic.
When registering, you may include the works you wish to exhibit, which will be evaluated by the organizers. In the case of publishers, titles published in the last five years may be submitted.
Publishers and illustrators who are not formally registered will have the opportunity to be included in a selection curated by the National Directorate of Culture.
The booth will also feature a selection curated by the National Directorate of Culture, bringing together outstanding and award-winning works from the 2024–2025 period, including the 10th National Illustration Award (2025), the 2024 and 2025 Literary Awards, Projects from Competitive Grants and FEFCA Scholarships 2024–2025, the Bartolomé Hidalgo Awards 2024 and 2025, and the Juan Carlos Onetti Literary Contest 2024 and 2025.
