Uruguay XXI will participate in the Uruguay–European Union Forum “New Business Horizons with the Implementation of the EU-Mercosur Agreement,” an event that will bring together officials, experts, and business representatives to analyze the opportunities for trade, investment, and cooperation arising from the agreement between the two blocs.
The event, organized by the Euroamerica Foundation and the European Union Delegation in Uruguay, will take place on Friday, June 5 at the Sofitel Montevideo.
The opening remarks will be delivered by Ramón Jáuregui, president of the Euroamerica Foundation; Pelayo Castro, Deputy Director-General for the Americas at the European External Action Service; and Mario Lubetkin, Uruguay’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Throughout the day, various sessions will be held to analyze the prospects for relations between the European Union and Mercosur, as well as the opportunities the agreement opens up for trade and investment. The panels will address topics related to European investments in Uruguay, the energy transition, innovation and technology, and infrastructure and logistics projects.
Uruguay XXI Executive Director Mariana Ferreira will participate in the session on European investment opportunities in Uruguay, alongside Petros Mavromichalis, European Union Ambassador to Uruguay; Olivier Luyckx, Head of the Latin America and Caribbean Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships; and Juan Labraga, Director of the Trade Policy Advisory Office at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The forum will be closed by Enrique Iglesias, member of the Board of Trustees of the Euroamerica Foundation, former President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and former Foreign Minister of Uruguay.
