Uruguay Week in Rio de Janeiro

From August 10 to 16, 2026, Uruguay Week in Rio will feature a wide-ranging program at various locations throughout Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. The program will include events related to culture, education, tourism, national identity, film, music, and the promotion of Uruguay.

Uruguay Week in Rio is organized with the participation and collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Directorate of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, INAVI, the Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Agency (ACAU), and Uruguay XXI.

Monday, August 10

• 12:00 p.m. — Discussion: “Frontiers of Creation — Brazil–Uruguay Chat,” with Fabián Severo and Gabriel Salabert.
• Location: National Library of Brazil.
• 3:00 p.m. — Signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the National Public Education Administration (ANEP) and the Municipal Secretariat of Education of Niterói, and inauguration of the Uruguay–Niterói Municipal School.
• Location: Escola Municipal Uruguai–Niterói.
• 6:00 p.m. — Illumination of the museum in the colors of Uruguay. Location: MAC Niterói.

Tuesday, August 11

• 2:00 p.m. — Opening of the exhibition *El Paisaje que Somos* by Andrés Boero Madrid, curated by Victoria Ismach.
• Location: Museu do Ingá.
• 6:30 p.m. — Uruguay Day in Brazil | Rio de Janeiro. Country Branding event organized by Uruguay XXI.
• Location: Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro.
• 8:00 p.m. — Candombe circle in the birthplace of samba.
• Location: Largo da Prainha, Saúde, Rio de Janeiro.

Wednesday, August 12

• 10:30 a.m. — Guided tour of the exhibition *Icons of Uruguay* —first session—.
• Location: Museu de Arte Moderno do Rio.
• 2:00 p.m. — Floral tribute at the monument to José Artigas, with music and candombe.
