Daniel “Tatita” Márquez

Musician, percussionist, researcher and teacher. Graduated from the Municipal School of Music of Montevideo and the University School of Music.

Daniel "Tatita" Márquez is a musician, percussionist, researcher and teacher. He graduated from the Municipal School of Music of Montevideo and from the University School of Music (1st cycle), and studied for two years at the University of Sao Paulo. He has taken classes with: Giovanni Hidalgo, Richie Flores, Ralph Irizarry, Samuel Torres, Jhair Salas, Mauricio Herrera, Marvin Diz, Jonhy Almendra, Renato Thoms, Jhon Wooton among others.... He has released fourteen Candombe research works and eight albums of jazz candombe, electronic and contemporary candombe. He represented Uruguay at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, at the Expo Yeosu 2012 in Korea, at the SXSW Festival in Austin Texas 2013 and at the Expo Inter 2013 in Porto Alegre and was part of the artistic delegation at the International Book Fair in Havana 2016 presenting his latest works, along with local musicians. He was a regular musician of Jaime Roos' band "3 millones". He recorded in Martin Cohen's studios in New York music from his latest albums "Mukunda", "Iniciación" and "Candombe around the world" in candombe jazz format. He has won the Graffiti award for his album "Mukunda" best album of Candombe Fusion.

In April 2017 he starts his World Tour where Tatita Márquez visits and presents his show "The New Powerful Candombe" in more than 16 cities, distributed by Central and North America, Western Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, Nordic Countries, Middle East and Asia. His previous show "The New Powerful Candombe" incorporates new technologies (robotics) to expand horizons internationally and open the doors to fusion with new rhythms.
