Uruguay chosen as one of the top ten nature-friendly destinations
The specialized tourism site Big 7 Travel also noted that the country ranked third out of 146 countries for its dedication to environmental sustainability.
In the list compiled by the Big 7 Travel site, which aims to be a world reference on destinations, trends and places to visit, Uruguay ranks ninth among the 50 environmentally friendly destinations.
"The country's surrounding waters have been protected since 2013 and are now also full of whales and dolphins. Air quality throughout the country is rated near perfect and Uruguay ranks third out of 146 countries for its dedication to environmental sustainability" highlights the publication.
The assessment also highlights the value of the air and its strong supply of renewable energy sources.
Other countries in the top 10 alongside Uruguay are Estonia, Scotland, the Azores Islands, Slovenia, Costa Rica, the Southern Carpathian Mountains in Romania, Gambia, Botswana and Bhutan.
