Between Monday 4th and Friday 8th June, representatives of Uruguay XXI participated in a business round in Beijing and in the 4th International Infrastructure Forum in Macao.

The business round, first instance of the mission, allowed holding meetings with various leading enterprises in the infrastructure area, such as construction, design and engineering companies and other companies specialized in the financing of projects in China.

In the different instances coordinated with the companies, presentations were made focusing on the economic, institutional and legal framework, as well as on the mechanisms that facilitate investment in Uruguay, mainly in the area of infrastructure. Likewise, the infrastructure plan 2015-2019 and the different priority projects in the different areas were presented.

Later, Uruguay XXI, with the support of the team of the Embassy of Uruguay in Beijing and the Consul in Guangzhou, Martin Álvez, was present at the ninth edition of the International Forum on Infrastructure, Investment and Construction in Macao.

The agency participated in a panel within the framework of what was called "The 4th China-LAC Infrastructure Forum", an entity that aims at the integration and connectivity of China and the countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC, Spanish acronym) in the Infrastructure and Construction area.

Here, Uruguay was presented as a logistics hub in Latin America, highlighting the strengths of its institutional, macroeconomic and legal framework, as well as the system of investment incentives. Moreover, aimed at boosting foreign direct investment, projects with open or close calls to tender were shown, either in general or under the modality of international bidding and public-private participation (PPP). As examples, projects in the energy sector, the Central Railroad and the educational area were addressed, the latter ranging from pre-school to secondary school.
