At the heart of one of the region’s most popular festivals, Uruguay XXI is once again committed to promoting Uruguayan music internationally. At the 2026 edition of Cosquín Rock Uruguay, the agency will organize a new networking space bringing together local artists and key figures from the international music industry, furthering a strategy that combines visibility, professional development, and the creation of concrete export opportunities.

Through a networking event between international festival programmers and managers of Uruguayan bands, to be held on Friday, March 20, in Montevideo, Uruguay XXI seeks to promote direct contact between those who set the event lineups in the region and national talents, facilitating their entry into international circuits.

Programmers from institutions and festivals in Brazil and Argentina will participate, including SESC São Paulo, Difusa Fronteira, Centro Cultural Konex, Tribus, and Boomerang. On the local side, managers representing a wide range of artists will be present, from established figures to new emerging acts.

A sustained policy with results

This initiative is part of a line of work that Uruguay XXI has been developing in the creative industries sector, with a focus on music, which has yielded concrete results in previous editions of the festival.

These exchanges have generated real opportunities for national artists, such as international tours, bookings, and new professional connections that extended beyond the event.

A catalog reflecting diversity and potential

As part of the strategy, international programmers have access to a catalog of Uruguayan bands that encapsulates the diversity and quality of the local scene.

It features artists from different genres and backgrounds. From established figures like Julieta Rada—who has performed on stages across the Americas and Europe—to emerging acts like Flor Sakeo, who has begun to expand her regional tour with the support of Uruguay XXI.

The lineup also highlights the stylistic breadth of Uruguayan music: the blend of tradition and modernity in projects like Rueda de Candombe, the fusion of genres in Miel, or the power of legendary bands like Cuatro Pesos de Propina and Trotsky Vengarán.

Even recent acts from the urban scene, such as Tussiwarriors, demonstrate a growing international following, with tours in Europe and Latin America and millions of listeners on digital platforms.

Cosquín Rock: A Strategic Platform

The festival is not a randomly chosen venue. Since its arrival in Uruguay in 2018, Cosquín Rock has established itself as a premier platform for national music. Its local identity, with a lineup heavily focused on Uruguayan artists, makes it an ideal space to showcase the country’s talent to international industry leaders.

Furthermore, the event offers something difficult to replicate in other contexts: the chance for programmers to see bands perform live, interacting with their audience, in an environment that reflects the authenticity of the local scene.

This direct contact, combined with formal networking opportunities, creates an ecosystem conducive to the development of professional connections and business opportunities.

Uruguay XXI’s commitment to Cosquín Rock aims to position the creative industries as a strategic sector within the country’s export matrix.

Music, in particular, combines cultural value with economic potential. Its international circulation not only propels artistic careers but also strengthens the country’s image and generates productive linkages in areas such as tourism, audiovisual production, and cultural services.
