The vessel Saga Faith departed from the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay, with 50,000 tons of pulp, of which 20,000 tons came from the UPM2 mill, located in the department of Durazno, and the rest from the first mill located in Fray Bentos.

The pulp was loaded at UPM's new specialized pulp terminal, designed to operate 24 hours a day for seven days, a logistical operation that involves more than 100 workers.

"Uruguay today takes another step forward, as it has done in its history, definitely convinced that the growth of a country is given by betting on public administration, but in partnership with private actors, as in this case" expressed to Presidential Communication the Minister of Transport and Public Works, José Luis Falero, at the inauguration ceremony, in which he also highlighted the historical commitment of Uruguay and its political system.

The UPM plant is one of the most important investments in the country, amounting to approximately US$ 3 billion. Its construction generated employment, boosted economic development and strengthened trade relations between Uruguay and other countries.

The pulp produced at UPM 2 is of high quality and is mainly used to manufacture paper and related products. World demand for this chemical compound is growing steadily. The successful departure of UPM's ship will demonstrate the mill's ability to meet production standards and satisfy international market demand.

The export of pulp is fundamental to the Uruguayan economy, as it generates significant revenues and contributes to the country's economic growth. In addition, UPM implements sustainable measures in its production, ensuring responsible management of natural resources and minimizing environmental impact.

The mill is expected to continue generating economic and social benefits for Uruguay, strengthening its position in the global pulp market and consolidating its reputation as a major player in the sustainable forestry industry.
